A sad ending for me

I am leaving the Fringe Comepletely. I am only sorry that I spent so much time on a game that Novalogic would not support. As a result of this fire and forget tactic that nova seems to use whenever they really screw the pooch, I have uninstalled all my novalogic games (quite a few) and never again will a NL game even come close to my computer. I was going to buy Land Warrior but now I am absolutely refusing to put yet one more bug infested game on my comp with @#%$ty programming. No.

Tach could have been so great but nova decides to let it fall to the dust like it's nothing, and really, please, don't tell me that nova really gives a @#%$ about you, the gamer. Trust me, they don't. Money, money, money.

As I have said above, never will another Nova game touch my computer. I do a lot of reccommending about games I like and I have plenty of connections to ppl with money that look to me for good games to play (10 of em bought tach). All I have to say is that I am sorry guys, Nova is a @#%$ty company at best, I'm sorry but it's the truth.

I have transferred to Allegiance. It is all I have ever wanted in a space sim, and the free zone is enough to justify thirty dollars. I plan to subscribe though. And, If nova would agree to fully support tach with patches, new corps, ships and so on wouldn't you pay a measly $9.95 per month? I know I would (have before this). Allegiance is simply the most mind blowing space sim I have ever encountered and I urge you to try it.

I have made quite a few friends here in the fringe, most notable would be the Bora Coalition Clan and the UFO clan, and my dear friend Barona of Stealth Shipyards. I encourage you to keep trying, many people complain but what you are doing will eventually pay off for the communities that you solely are trying to support. Many of your achievements have been quite amazing. I shall discussing internal tach matter with you (if I did not mention anyone by name please do not take offense).

With this I leave you. I hope that you can find more peace in the fringe and nova's lying, two faced behavior than I can... -VG9FTW

Added new page to the site. If you've ever wanted pictures from the opening movie of tachyon you've gotten your wish. A new gallery has been added to the eyecandy section of the site devoted especially to the opening movie. -VG9FTW

Repacker from Stealth Shipyards, other misc stuff

Wow! There is a new thing going on over at Stealth Shipyards. The have a mod utility that will make editing new ships in tachyon a breeze. With this utility you can add ship mods, get rid of ship mods, with just the click of a button. Included in the download is the skins for a Star Patrol Vessel, a Treg, a TNS Inquirer, Demon Pirate ship, Flare, and a Corvus. On another note, YOU AND YOU ONLY ARE RESPONSABLE FOR WHAT YOU DO WITH THIS UTILITY, USE GOOD JUDGEMENT AND DON'T SCREW THE REST OF US OVER!!!

Stuff...

Ha, making an update. I'm sorry that I just left everyone haning for the past week. I got stranded in another city and was far far away from any type on a computer. Crap happens, sorry.

There is a new website in the fringe! Go take a look at Tachweb.cjb.net. It is a webring for all Tachyon related sites. If you have a Tachyon related website, sign up for the webring. There is practically no process involved, and no personal information to fill out. Also, in the description box, if you have a message board, write the URL for it in there. This way, it will all be linked. This webring is a really good thing for new people that want to find the Tachyon Community. Newbies ,or anyone else for that matter, could bookmark it, and with a single click get information about every Tachyon related site that exists.

Stealth Shipyards has released a NEW ship! Basically what it does is it changes the lookn of the pegasus to look like a Corvus Light Interceptor. Right now it's just eyecandy, but soon it will be the real thing!

The third chapter in IK Stryder's warstory series The Border Wars, has been released and is ready to read here. Soon it will be added the the warstories section of this website. This Chapter has been (interestingly enough) named, Phoenix Flame.

NEW! If you haven't already noticed it, there is a new section that has been added to TTFD. I have added an eyecandy section to the site. Right now there is one gallery of screenshots but soon there will be wallpapers, startup and shutdown screens, and possible even windows themes.

PFF REPACKER RELEASED!!!

Novacentral has released the new file repacker so that now the few of us that know how may make mods and the like. This is a great achievement and the people that have accomplished this feat deserve quite a bit of credit. You may download the file here.

Just so everyone knows, the reason that I have not been doing news updates for the past few days is because I have been extremely tired with going to a conference and doing a whole lot of other things in between. I'm tired, but I have some cool stuff for you...

Lotsa things in the works. I have finished making gallery 1 of the screenshots page and it will be available quite soon. I am planning to eventually make startup and shudown screens yfor your viewing pleasure, a theme for win98, and wallpapers. As you can see I have a lot planned but it does take time to execute it.

I would like to make an icq list of all tachyon players, but considering the level of participation I have gotten thus far I don't see it as being anything exceptional. Please prove me wrong when the time comes.

Me using a new HTML editor. Wierd and different. Still trying to get used to it. Flames are still rolling at all the boards and not a whole lot is happening in the Fringe. A couple of days ago the Lance clan met the ~BC~ clan in an arena match just for fun. Fun it was. Get this, I got slagged in a hacked hammer by a drunk cowboy! How embarrassing is that? BTW, to clearify, it was a private game between the Lance and ~BC~, Cowboy kept ripping me a new one using only lasers, my hammer vs his peg, so I asked him if he minded me using flares on my hammer so I could put up a better fight with the higher refire rate. Didn't help. =(

Downloads page updated

Been doing quite a bit of work to the site. Downloads page has been structured in a way so that it's easy to navigate now. Check it out!

Pretty much nothing going on in the tachyon community right now, except for the flames going on at Tachyon.8k.com's message forums. I am reading up on how to program javascript so I will get back to you guys later. Oh, BTW, Ik Stryder's next chapter in Tachyon: The Border Wars will be coming soon, so if you havn't read any of this series you should go to the warstories section and read the first two chapters. Well now, an update.

Hi all! I'm in the process of reinstalling win98 and putting a new cdrom in his computer and doing this at the same time so it may get a little confusing. There's been a small drought of information so this is all the info I could glean from various sources...

From What I understand,Novalogic, everyone's favorite gaming company, is rumored to be realeasing a new patch somewhat soon. Supposed to be big...

Not tachyon related but still cool. Delta Force: Land warrior is coming soon and now there is a demo available at Gamespot.

I honestly have nothing more that I can find is newsworthy. When I find something I will post it. -VG9FTW

Massive updating, more warstories!

I have just finished doming one heck of a lot of updating in general to the site.

If you are a fan of IK Stryder's The Border Wars: Brewing storm, you might want to check out The Border Wars: Death's Head, in the warstories section of the site. Also, I have just added one new story to the Tachyon Interactive Storyline, also in the warstories section.

Change in plans, the combining of Roadkill's Tachyon Headquarters is not going to happen anymore. Instead, Roadkill has decided to make a site for the Tachyon News Service where news is delivered faster than the speed of light, literally.

All I have for now, should have some more in about 8 hours. -VG9FTW

The winner gets a big fat nothing but he will recieve credit for his glorious screenshot which I'm sure he labored hard for. At any rate, all screenshots (unless they totally suck) submitted will be added to a new screenshots section I am working on. You may send them to me through email. *Note* Please, only jpg or gif (but preferably jpg) files. I do not really want to spend half my night downloading a screenshot.

Some good news!

I'm actually posting! Well on to the REAL good news. I am going to be making a news post just about every day from today on (assuming that I can get to my comp).

There has been a lot of cheating going on in the arena lately. I ask all pilots of the fringe, be respectful of your neighbor and don't cheat to get an advantage over him. Really, he is just like you, he has the same troubles with his ship as you do. All you have to do is ask for help and you'll get it, especially if it's from a vet. Just please, don't cheat or hack.

I'm pretty late on this but a post was made in the Stealth Shipyards' regional Forums, with some interesting information on 3d Studio Max. The post goes as follows...

3D Studio Max 3.1 will include gMAX or what Discreet is calling, "an extensible content creation platform for professional and consumer use." Basically what they plan to do is release gMAX with 3D Studio Max 3.1 so that 3D game developers can ship a 3d toolkit with thier games that will give gamers/players the abilty to model, texturize with lighting, and animate the 3D content of the game. Then they plan to make this "extensible" or gMAX available as fully supported freeware. The idea behind all of this is to extend the life of 3D games across the whole board. Fantastic news!
